Profile / CV
Kyriakos Katsaras.
Software Architect / CS & AI Educator / Entrepreneur
Software development, computer science and AI education, and entrepreneurship.
I have worked as a software engineer, educator and technical team lead. Today, I work through IDBS and develop Webie, with software engineering, education and product building as the common thread.
The starting point
Curiosity became a profession.
My first experience with programming was through Pascal at the age of 12 (1994). I was fascinated by the fact that I could write instructions and see the computer execute them. I started reading books, asking teachers questions and experimenting on my own. That curiosity about how systems work led me to my studies and eventually to a career in computer science.
Software & leadership
From implementation to technical direction.
My professional path includes software development for public organisations, staff training, software architecture and the organisation of development teams.
EFKA systems
Intrasoft International
Software Engineer & InstructorI worked as a full stack engineer on Periodic Contribution Declaration (APD) applications, the TEKA system and the ATLAS digital pension platform.
I also organised and taught a training programme for EFKA staff. The programme covered the technologies used by the applications so that staff could understand technical issues more easily and communicate more effectively with the development team.
Public-sector applications
Apopsi
Software architecture & engineeringI worked on web applications for the Ministry of Culture.
I used Java EE and JSP to develop Liferay Portlets as part of the projects undertaken by the company.
Setting up a startup
AiPath
Technical direction / CTOI was responsible for technology selection, building the development team and organising remote collaboration.
Alongside the management role, I continued writing code and supporting developers with technical issues. I also took part in selecting external collaborators and designing the development and delivery process.
CS–AI Education
I’ve been teaching computer science since 2003.
I start with the reasoning behind the code and continue with examples and hands-on practice. I adapt the lesson to each learner’s current knowledge and pace, with the goal of helping them gradually solve problems without constant guidance.
Teaching & seminars
Delta 360
I taught object-oriented programming using examples from complete applications. Through IDBS, I have also delivered seminars on AI, prompting and content-generation tools.
Teaching & department supervision
Omiros Educational Group
I taught programming, relational databases, XML, Android application development and user experience design.
The first teaching steps
Xinis Educational Group
I started as a teaching assistant and later took responsibility for my own classes. I taught programming, object-oriented design, web design and web server structure.
Academic background
Studies & applied research
Degree
Software Engineering
University of Hertfordshire
My final-year project was a client–server application for monitoring student performance. It used AI techniques to process results from multiple-choice tests, while the data was transferred in encrypted form.
Earlier studies
Software Engineering
University of Wales, Bangor
I began my studies at the University of Wales, Bangor, and later continued at the University of Hertfordshire.
Entrepreneurship & projects
Ideas taking shape.
My company

IDBS
Through IDBS, I provide software development, education and business consulting services.
My main project

Webie
Webie is the main software project I’m developing. Explore the full presentation, its tools and capabilities.
Educational Project / Tech blog

Devsclub
I created Devsclub so learners could experiment with, publish and present their applications.
I have also developed MsgNow, educational Java applications and smaller tools. Several of them started from needs that came up in lessons or from technical questions I wanted to explore in practice.
Social contribution
Knowledge is valuable when it is shared.
Cyber Security International Institute
I volunteered in educational activities around safer internet use, with particular emphasis on protecting children online.
SOFPSY VA, Northeast Attica
I developed the website for the Association of Families and Friends for Mental Health in Northeast Attica, contributing technical work to support the organisation.
